Is JUP halal?
PIF rates Jupiter Comfortable.
At PIF, we use a disciplined framework to determine if a digital asset is Comfortable from a sharia perspective. We look past the hype and evaluate every project based on three core pillars:
- Purpose & Real-World Value
We ask: Does this token actually do something useful? - The Goal: We want to see that the token is used for a real service—like a digital key to an app, a way to vote on project decisions, or a medium for actual trade.
- The Red Flags: If a token’s only “use” is to bet on its own price, or if it is tied to haram industries (like gambling, interest-based lending, or adult content), we classify it as Uncomfortable.
- Honesty & Founder Intent
We ask: Is this a legitimate project or a “get rich quick” scheme for the creators? - Token Ownership: We check if the founders kept too much of the supply for themselves. If they hold a massive amount and can sell it all at once (no “lock-up” period), it’s a major risk.
- Build vs. Hype: We look at where the money goes. Legitimate projects spend on developers and technology; risky ones spend almost everything on influencers and “moon” marketing.
- Dealing with Risk & Speculation
We ask: Is this trading or gambling? - Speculation is okay: In Islam, taking a risk to buy an asset you hope will go up in value is a normal part of trade. Volatility (price swings) does not make a coin haram.
- Zero-Sum Games are not: We avoid “Binary Options” or “Prediction Markets” where one person’s win is exactly another person’s loss with no actual asset being exchanged.
